Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is a great alternative to pharmaceuticals. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine is a powerful system that uses natural medicinals to treat many common complaints, illness, and diseases. Herbs come in many different forms but the most common and convenient methods are tablets or tinctures. Herbal recommendations are included with acupuncture appointments but 30 minute herbal consultations are available.

Cupping Therapy

Patients usually request this! Cupping is a great way to untangle the knots in your shoulders and de-stress. Glass cups are applied to the surface of your skin with a mild suction in order to draw fresh oxygen-rich circulation into the achy and tired muscles below. Afterwards, you feel like you’ve had a deep tissue massage! Some discoloration may appear on the skin’s surface following this treatment. Cupping is often included during an acupuncture session. For those that wish for cupping therapy alone, 20 minute appointments are available.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a warming treatment that involves burning an herb called mugwort. It is used to warm regions of the body and acupuncture points in order to stimulate circulation. Moxa is also well known for the ability to help turn a breech fetus (around 34 weeks gestation and in coordination with the Ob/Gyn only).

I turned to Lauren as a last resort (and wish it would have been my first) to treat a problem with uterine fibroids for which I was recommended to have a hysterectomy. With her recommended treatment of aggressive herbal supplements + acupuncture, I have seen DRASTIC improvements in my pain: in fact, it's almost gone! Also all of my other unpleasant side effects from the fibroids have nearly disappeared. She's incredibly knowledgeable and saved me from having to take some very drastic measures! - KT, Photographer
